Liverpool winger Luis Diaz is fit while Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai could also be back for their trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday but forward Mohamed Salah will not return until at least next week, manager Juergen Klopp said.

Klopp has been wrestling with an injury crisis in recent weeks that has sidelined several key players and forced him to turn to the club’s academy to plug the holes.

Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, goalkeeper Alisson, Curtis Jones, Salah, Nunez and Szoboszlai all missed last Sunday’s League Cup final win over Chelsea along with a number of longer term absentees.

Diaz then sat out Wednesday’s FA Cup win over Southampton, but is fine to face Forest — along with midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who has been ill.

“(Diaz) is fine and Macca (Alexis Mac Allister) is fine,” Klopp told reporters on Friday. “Darwin and Dom trained yesterday (Thursday) with
the team so we will see how they react,” the Liverpool manager added.

Salah has not featured for the Premier League leaders since their visit to Brentford on February 17, but he could be in contention for next Sunday’s game against title rivals Manchester City.

“I don’t think Mo (Salah) is too far off. He will not feature tomorrow (Saturday)... I think next week, any point, it’s possible,” Klopp said of the possibility of him playing.

No Grealish still

Jack Grealish is unavailable for Manchester City’s game with Manchester United this weekend, manager Pep Guardiola said on Friday.

Grealish has not featured in City’s last three league games after suffering a groin injury in the Champions League win at FC Copenhagen, and the midfielder went off injured in the first half after starting Tuesday’s FA Cup win over Luton Town.

“No, he will not be fit for the weekend. When he comes back I don’t know,” Guardiola told a press conference. “Setbacks are always there in life, he will overcome it.”

Guardiola doesn’t expect Grealish to return before the international break later this month, when England play two friendly games with Brazil and Belgium.

“No, I don’t think so. He has to recover well to use him as much as possible,” he said.

City are second in the standings, one point behind Liverpool and one point ahead of Arsenal, while United are in sixth place. Guardiola was asked when their Manchester rivals can expect to challenge for the title.

“If (co-owner) Sir Jim Ratcliffe said they need two or three years to be there, who am I to say the opposite?,” the manager said.
