Paris Saint-Germain are said to be considering putting Kylian Mbappe on sale after the French superstar refused to sign a contract extension at the Ligue 1 club and was also left out of the squad for their Asian pre-season tour, casting further doubt on the striker’s future.

PSG officially did not give any reason for Mbappe’s omission. According to media reports, the Parisian club will put up the 24-year-old for sale as they believe he has already agreed on terms to join Real Madrid for free next summer.

Defensa Central reports that PSG have made an unbelievable offer to Mbappe, with a 10-year contract on the table worth 1 billion euros. It would tie Mbappe to the club until the age of 34 and essentially operate as a lifetime deal. It would also be the most lucrative sports contract in history.

Mbappe, however, is reported to have told PSG that he is not motivated by money, and dreams of playing for Real Madrid, where he can win every potential trophy on offer. The striker has already told the club that he does not intend to sign a new deal and plans to leave on a free transfer next summer.

PSG have told Mbappe that he must either sign a new deal or be sold this summer.

The striker has become something of a legend in France, scoring 212 goals in 260 games, while also registering 98 assists. He has never won the Champions League, however, although he did win the World Cup with France in 2018 and helped fire them to the final in 2022.

Relations between Mbappe and PSG have been tense since the French forward said last month he would not renew his contract which expires at the end of next season, when he could leave Paris for free.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has said they will not let him go for free after the club spent 180 million euros ($200 million) to sign him.

PSG representatives did not immediately reply when contacted for comment on Friday.

PSG have won nine of the last 11 Ligue 1 titles, but haven’t got the Champions League despite all their investments.

That’s a trophy Mbappe craves and believes he can get with Real Madrid.
