Winning three successive games in the ISL remains elusive for East Bengal. At the Salt Lake Stadium on Thursday, they went on to take the lead, yet lost 1-2 to Odisha FC to remain third from bottom in the standings with seven points.

A Lalchungnunga strike in the 53rd minute gave East Bengal the lead and their fans some hope. That, even after Jeakson Singh was given marching orders in the 43rd minute following a second yellow card. But Odisha FC took just a couple of minutes to restore parity, courtesy of Jerry Mawihmingthanga before Hugo Boumous put them on the ascendancy with his 81st-minute strike which eventually turned out to be the winner for the visitors.

With this win, Odisha FC are at No.3 in the league table with 19 points.

Odisha FC were quick to draw level after Lalchungnunga's right-footer from the centre of the box off a corner found the target eight minutes into the second half. Soon after, Mawihmingthanga's right-footer off an assist from Isak Vanlalruatfela made it 1-1.

Towards the end, Boumous' left-footer went on to seal the deal for Odisha FC.
