Not just in the Indian Super League (ISL), Mohun Bagan will play the Calcutta Football League (CFL) too as a new entity.
The 131-year-old club took a step in that direction requesting the Indian Football Association (IFA), the parent body of football in the state to which the club is affiliated, to change its name from Mohun Bagan AC to ATK Mohun Bagan Pvt. Ltd in its books.
Simultaneously, Kolkata Games and Sports Pvt. Ltd (ATK) has asked to be disqualified from the IFA as they have merged with Mohun Bagan Football Club Pvt. Ltd.
“I have received the request from Mohun Bagan and Kolkata Games and Sports. It is up to the governing body to accept their plea. They will take the final call,” IFA secretary Joydeep Mukherjee said.
The IFA is planning to start the CFL from the second week of November, provided the Covid situation improves.
