Mohun Bagan Super Giant will be looking to preserve their winning momentum as they aim for their sixth straight win in ISL-X, when they take on Odisha FC at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Wednesday.
The visitors, however, return to the same venue where they had humiliated Bagan 5-2 in the AFC Cup group league match.
That result was a massive aberration in what otherwise has been an impeccable season for Bagan so far. Juan Ferrando has a likely title-winning unit at his disposal. And they would want to avenge their defeat against a rather strong Odisha FC.
The Mariners have assembled a star-studded squad with high ambitions on both the domestic and continental fronts. While the latter might be a challenging affair, they would not want to slip up in the
former at any cost. Ferrando insisted that he wanted a formidable fight back from his boys.
“It’s not necessary to change a lot of things. In my mind the system is the same, it is to put the goals, find spaces, etc. It’s an important match, of course, but I don’t think we need to change a lot of things,” Ferrando said.
Odisha FC are also coming into the match with five straight wins — including three in the ISL and two in the AFC Cup — under their belt.
The AFC Cup win against the Mariners handed them the impetus that could propel the campaign to greater heights.
