Atletico were up and running inside five minutes when Angel Correa flicked his header from a corner kick into the six-yard box where Griezmann nodded home from point-blank range. In the 37th minute Almeria pounced on a back pass from Correa which set Leo Baptistao on his way down the left against his former club.

The Brazilian quickly took his shot, it deflected off Jose Gimenez before looping over Jan Oblak in goal to go down as an own goal.

Atletico restored their lead six minutes later with some neat interplay which allowed Yannick Carrasco to cut the ball in to Griezmann who grabbed his second with a smart finish.

Roma pump in 3

Roma consolidated the third place in Serie A with a 3-0 win over Udinese. Edoardo Bove, Lorenzo Pellegrini and substitute Tammy Abraham scored for the home team. Juventus lost 1-0 at Sassuolo earlier on Sunday.

Vitinha on target

Vitinha scored his first goals for Olympique de Marseille as they thrashed struggling Troyes 3-1 to move into second place in the Ligue 1 standings. The Portuguese striker, who joined in January, netted either side of the interval.
