Slavko Damjanovic, ATK Mohun Bagan’s Montenegrin central defender, is looking forward to the ISL IX final against Bengaluru FC to be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Saturday.
Damjanovic will be playing his first final in India and wants to make it memorable, not only for himself but also for his children, who are his biggest fans. “My two daughters and son are calling me every day and keep on telling me that I have to win this final. They are my huge fans and I do not want to let them down,” Damjanovic said on Thursday.
Bagan had their final training session in Calcutta on Thursday morning before flying out to Goa.
The 30-year-old said Bagan’s 2-0 victory over East Bengal on February 25 was a huge confidence booster. “That win gave us the belief that we could go the distance.”
Bagan officials have decided to fly in Joni Kauko from Finland to root for his team from the stands on Saturday. Kauko was ruled out for the season after picking up a knee injury in November last year.
