BFC now have 31 points from 19 matches as against 46 points of Mumbai City from the same number of games

Bengaluru FC (BFC) beat Mumbai City 2-1 to jump to fourth spot and remain in contention for a playoff spot in ISL IX here on Wednesday.

Sunil Chhetri (57th) and Javi Hernandez (70th) scored for BFC, while Mourtada Fall pulled one back for Mumbai City who won the ISL League Shield last Saturday.

BFC now have 31 points from 19 matches as against 46 points of Mumbai City from the same number of games.

ATK Mohun Bagan, with 28 from 18 matches, now slip to fifth spot but can climb up the ladder if they beat Kerala Blasters at home on Saturday.

Chhetri’s scored minutes before the hour mark. Hernandez whipped a corner at the far post and the senior pro charged in to head his team into the lead.

BFC’s Aleksandar Jovanovic squared the ball into the path of Hernandez inside the rival penalty box. The Spaniard’s prompt shot made it 2-0 for the hosts.
