A stoppage-time goal by Florian Wirtz secured a 3-2 win for Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen at Borussia Moenchengladbach in the season opener on Friday, extending their unbeaten league run into the new campaign.
Leverkusen were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time for Ko Itakura’s foul on substitute Amine Adli and Wirtz scored on a rebound to earn the visitors the
three points.
Granit Xhaka opened the scoring for Leverkusen in the 12th minute before Wirtz doubled their lead in the 38th.

Bradley Barcola scored a brace and Marco Asensio, Achraf Hakimi, Warren Zaïre-Emery and substitute Lee Kang-in were the other scorers.

Celta Vigo marked the 101st anniversary of the club’s founding with a 3-1 win over Valencia for a second straight league win to start the season. It marked the first time since 2015 the Galician club has won their first two matches of the season.
