Emami East Bengal celebrated their Kalinga Super Cup triumph in style on Monday.
Thousands of fans turned up at the Calcutta airport to welcome coach Carles Cudrat and his men in the afternoon and followed the team bus to the club ground.
Cuadrat cut the cake as as players, supporters and officials clapped.
Buoyed by Sunday’s title-win, Emami East Bengal, in a statement, also pledged long-term support to the football team.
In a statement signed by Emami directors Aditya Agarwal and Manish Goenka, the football team said the recent success has proved that things are going in the right direction.
East Bengal are expected to sign 37-year-old Spanish midfielder Victor Vazquez for the remainder of the season.
Vazquez, a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia, was a part of the class of 1987 which had the likes of Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique and Cesc Fabregas. He last played for Toronto FC.
East Bengal have released Borja Herrera, who will be joining FC Goa.
