Emami East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat could be on his way out.
According to a reliable source, the Spaniard has told his confidants that he is finding it difficult to handle the enormous pressure of delivering and wants to leave the job.
East Bengal have not won their last five matches in all competitions, including three in ISL-XI, and there is a clamour to sack the coach who gave the club the Super Cup in January this year.
That was the club’s first major trophy since the 2012 Federation Cup triumph.
The source said Cuadrat could leave in the next 48 hours. East Bengal play formidable Jamshedpur FC away on October 5.
After the FC Goa setback at home last Friday, the coach had to endure “Go back Cuadrat” chants.
East Bengal, who are in the ISL from the 2020-21 season, have built a formidable team for the first time and there were great hopes of making it to the top-six.
It’s early days in the league but the team’s abysmal performance has put a question mark on Cuadrat’s ability to guide the players.
