In the first match, Bagan fielded an all-Indian line-up but Punjab GC being a strong team coach Juan Ferrando may give some game time to some of the foreigners. Bagan have registered Brandon Hamill, Hugo Boumous and Dimitri Petrattos.

It remains to be seen if Spaniard Ferrando starts with three of them. Ferrando will be in the dug-out after Bastab Roy gave instructions from the sidelines in the tournament opener.

“Punjab FC have a very strong team. Last season I watched some of their matches.

“This year they have a new team and the unknown quality makes them dangerous,” Ferrando said on Sunday.

Bagan play their AFC Cup match at Salt Lake Stadium on August 16 and before that, the Durand Derby against Emami East Bengal is slated for August 12.

“We have to keep in mind that in 10 days we have an AFC Cup match. Also, the Derby clash is there later this week. We have to be cautious with the team composition,” he said.

In the first match, the likes of Liston Colaco and Suhail Bhat have caught the eye. Bhat is in great form and consistently scoring goals.

“Some of the junior footballers have impressed me. We have played seven matches in all competitions and not tasted defeat. That’s an achievement,” Ferrando said.
