In a match that lived up to the rich tradition of the 'Kolkata Derby', Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal FC played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in an ISL engagement here on Saturday.
East Bengal went ahead in the third minute through Ajay Chhetri but Armando Sadiku restored the parity for the Super Giant in the 17th minute.
Brazilian Cleiton Silva found the centre of the net through a penalty in the 55th minute to put East Bengal ahead that also saw players from both the sides getting involved in some heated moments.
The penalty was awarded to East Bengal after Dipak Tangri fouled Mahesh Singh inside the box in the 53rd minute.
Perhaps lulled by the lead, East Bengal defence was caught napping in the dying minutes as a Manvir cross found an unmarked Dimitri Petratos inside the box.
Petratos nonchalantly buried the ball into the back of net to level the scores.
Earlier, Punjab FC scored three past Bengaluru FC to secure a comfortable Round 13 victory to move to ninth position in the table.
Wilmar Jordan Gil, Luka Majcen and Madih Talal scored the goals for the home side while Sunil Chhetri scored the consolation goal for Bengaluru FC.
