The All India Football Federation has given the green light for a budget of Rs 134 crore for the upcoming season. This was one of the many decisions taken at the executive committee meeting in Bangalore on Monday.

Of Rs 134 crore, Rs 50 crore will come from the commercial partner, which also runs the ISL, Rs 25 crore from the sports ministry and the rest through Fifa largesse allocated to the member nations and other avenues.

It had also been decided to start the Blue Cubs programme for under-6 to under-12 children, where training schools can be part of the initiative by paying a franchise fee. “The target is at tier II and III cities,” a senior official told The Telegraph.

AIFF has also decided to accommodate all five bidders in the I-League, making the No. 2 league of the country a 16-team affair. The five entities who had placed their respective bids for corporate entries are from Varanasi, Bhaini Sahib Village (Punjab), Bangalore, New Delhi and Ambala.

In another significant move, M Satyanarayan, the secretary of Karnataka State Football Association, will be the new deputy secretary general. His name was proposed by president Kalyan Chaubey.

Satyanarayan’s appointment is being seen as further decentralisation of power from secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran.

AIFF, on May 30, had formed a five-member core committee to oversee key areas. The core committee had a meeting on Monday.

The federation will also give Rs 24 lakh to the member associations.

It has also decided to revive the Federation Cup after a gap of six years and Deloitte will do the internal audit subject to ratification at the AGM on Tuesday.
