The report claimed that the Brazilian has informed his club that he intends to leave before the end of the transfer window. Neymar, now 31, wants a return to Barcelona, the team he left in the summer of 2017 to sign for PSG. It remains to be seen if Barcelona can afford Neymar given the Spanish club’s fragile financial situation.

The protests by PSG’s fans outside Neymar’s house in May have reportedly affected Neymar and this is the catalyst for the player wanting to leave.

Mbappe will continue to be excluded from the squad after refusing a new contract at the club.

PSG’s first team was back in training in France on Monday, after returning from their pre-season tour to Japan and South Korea. But PSG bosses decided on Sunday that Mbappe will stay with the so-called “loft group” who are away from the ‘A’ main squad.

The “loft group” comprises players who are for sale and do not feature in PSG’s plans with the club rapidly re-shaping its team.
