Although the high-voltage Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea is more than two weeks away, there’s still enough happening around the world when it comes to football. Last week, Inter Milan were crowned Serie A champions, and followed it up with a 5-1 win over ninth-ranked Sampdoria, clocking their 14th straight home win yesterday. Inter coach Antonio Conte is a happy man as his team won the Serie A title for the first time in ten years.

Cristiano Ronaldo is clearly not having the time of his life despite being the leading scorer (27) in Serie A. Last night, Juventus were knocked out of the top four after losing 0-3 to AC Milan. Ronaldo couldn’t add to his scoring tally and the Bianconeri will fear not qualifying for the Champions League 2021-22 season.

"I won’t step aside. I undertook this work with a lot of enthusiasm, with difficulties, but my work continues. I think I can do better. There are three games left and I will continue to do my job as long as I can,” Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo, who was under attack by irate fans, was quoted as saying by AFP.

Meanwhile, Atlanta moved to second spot in the Serie A table, after beating 19th ranked Parma 5-2, and are staring at their third season in the Champions League.

Real Madrid fumble in title race

The La Liga title race is becoming tighter with every passing game. Two days ago, the Barcelona and Atletico Madrid encounter ended in a goalless draw. And now, Real Madrid’s title race suffered a setback last night against Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla. The La Liga title race still seems to be in table-toppers Atletico Madrid’s favour. There was enough drama in last night’s clash, with Karim Benzema being brought down by Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bono, but referee Juan Martinez Munuera’s VAR referral figured an Eder Militao handball, eventually denying the Blancos a penalty. And not to miss Eden Hazard’s stoppage time strike, which ended the game in a 2-2- draw.

The penalty drama left Zinedine Zidane visibly upset. “They have to explain the exact rules of the hands to me. But now we have to think about the next game. It is not up to us now, but we will fight to the end, to the death,” Zizou was quoted as saying by AFP.
