Manchester City can finally pop the champagne after Manchester United lost 1-2 at home to Leicester City on Tuesday.
Luke Thomas and Çaglar Söyüncü scored for Leicester while Mason Greenwood got United’s goal.
City therefore were confirmed champions with three games to spare. Pep Guardiola’s City side, who missed the chance to seal the title when they were beaten 1-2 by Chelsea on Saturday, are 10 points clear of United, who also have three games left.
It is City’s third Premier League title in five seasons under Guardiola and their fifth in the last 10.
United skipper Harry Maguire, meanwhile, faces a race to be fit for their Europa League final against Villarreal on May 26 after sustaining an ankle ligament injury. Maguire, who has been ever-present in United’s defence starting all 34 of their Premier League games this season, suffered the problem in Sunday’s match at Aston Villa.
In another match, Fulham lost 0-2 to Burnley at Craven Cottage to be relegated from the Premier League. Goals from Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood gave Burnley the victory.
The defeat left Fulham in 18th spot on 27 points, 10 behind Southampton with three games left to play, while Burnley rose from 17th to 14th on 39 points.
