The grit that helped to carve out a draw in the one-off Test has certainly bolstered India Women’s morale, as they get ready for the white-ball leg of their England tour beginning with the first of the three ODIs in Bristol on Sunday.

The coming matches, captain Mithali Raj pointed out, will also double up as the team’s preparation for the World Cup next year in New Zealand. “We look really positive going into the World Cup,” Mithali said on the eve of the first ODI, where young Shafali Verma is set to make her debut in the 50-over format.
