England will not make any changes to accommodate the IPL, Ashley Giles reiterated on Thursday.
Giles, the managing director of England men’s cricket, admitted some players may be rested from the tour of Bangladesh, which is likely to take place at the same time as the rearranged IPL.
The BCCI is planning to hold the remaining 31 matches of the IPL in the UAE from the second half of September to mid-October.
Giles said it “wouldn’t be for them to go and play cricket elsewhere”. He also confirmed the ECB had no plans to alter their schedule, including the Test series against India, to enable a larger window for the IPL.
Archer warning
Jofra Archer will not rush his return from elbow surgery in case it affects his primary targets of playing the T20 World Cup and the Ashes series later this year.
Archer warned that if he didn’t get his rehabilitation right, he wouldn’t play “any cricket … period”.
