East Bengal returned to winning ways, putting it across Indian Arrows 3-1 in an I-League match at the Cooperage Stadium in Mumbai on Monday.
Jaime Santos, Asheer Akhtar and Lalrindika Ralte scored for the winners while Vikram Partap got his fourth goal of the I-League after missing a penalty, to get his side on the scoresheet.
East Bengal, following the result, got out of relegation zone and climbed to sixth on the table with 15 points from 12 games.
This was also East Bengal’s first victory after a three-match winless streak.
East Bengal took the lead in the fourth minute when a long ball from their own half was headed down by Marcos De La Espada onto the path of compatriot Jaime. The Spaniard unleashed a thunderous left-footed volley which didn’t give Arrows goalkeeper Lalbiakhula Jongte a chance to move.
