Battle in Group C of the ongoing Durand Cup has been intense with all four teams still having a chance to advance to the quarter finals with two more games left, both of which will be played on Tuesday.

While former ISL champions Bengaluru FC (BFC) take on services team Indian Navy at the Salt Lake Stadium, Delhi FC will take on Kerala Blasters FC in the other Group C match of the day which will be played at the Mohun Bagan ground.

Bengaluru FC are relatively better placed with four points from two games, courtesy a win and a draw. Even a draw in Tuesday’s game will see them through to the knockout stage. Indian Navy, on the other hand, are on three points and face a more difficult task.

Former India footballer Naushad Moosa, who is in charge of Bengaluru FC, said that their approach would be to play “good football” and so there will be no pressure on the players to think about points.

“At BFC, we just believe in playing good football. So I don’t want to put any pressure on the boys, for a draw or for a win. It’s just that we go there and play good football and results will come,” Moosa said.

Moosa’s counterpart, Abhilash Vasantha, realises how difficult a job it might be to take on a top ISL side. The Indian Navy coach, however, is confident that his players have it in them to give their more-fancied opponents a run for their money.

“It is not about being an ISL or an I-League team. We are playing with Bengaluru FC. They are a good side with very young talents and also some senior squad members.”

The winners of this group will clash with Army Green in the quarters, while the second-placed team will lock horns with ISL side FC Goa.
