Shikhar Dhawan has allegedly violated bird flu protocols in Varanasi and faces possible legal action from the district administration.
India’s limited-overs opener Dhawan, who was in Varanasi this week, posted pictures on social media where he is seen feeding migratory Siberian birds while on a boat ride in the Ganga. According to protocols, which have been put in place for rising cases of bird flu, feeding migratory birds is banned in Varanasi.
“We are probing the veracity of the pictures in which the cricketer is seen offering grains to the migratory birds. We have put a ban on such activities in Varanasi. We are also considering taking legal action against the boatman ferrying Dhawan,” said Kaushal Raj Sharma, district magistrate of Varanasi.
Dhawan, during his Varanasi tour, visited Kashi Vishwanath and Kal Bhairav temples. He had also attended the Ganga Aarti.
