On a day when the security situation in Pakistan was questioned by New Zealand, former West Indies captain Darren Sammy said that he never found the country unsafe.

“Disappointed waking up to the news of the cancellation of the Pakistan Vs New Zealand series because of security issues. Over the last six years playing and visiting Pakistan has been one of the most enjoyable experiences.

“I’ve always felt safe,” Sammy, who has played in the Pakistan Super League, tweeted.

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar launched a scathing attack on New Zealand, tweeting: “NZ just killed Pakistan cricket.”

Akhtar, in a Twitter thread, said New Zealand should have remembered that “nine Pakistanis were killed in the Christchurch attack” of 2019.
