Indian wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has another feather in his cap. Saha, who was recently in the news for exiting the Bengal team, will be feted with Bongobhushan Award on July 25 at Nazrul Mancha.
Speaking to Anandabazar.com, a delighted Wriddhi said, "It's a moment of honour for me. I've played for Bengal and I'm thankful that they've considered me deserving. The news was given to me by Nabanna via phone call, and I received a letter earlier today."
The Siliguri boy, who played 40 Tests for India, recently shifted to Tripura at the first-class level, after a tiff with the Cricket Association of Bengal.
Saha, who will turn 38 in October, took a decision to leave Bengal after CAB joint secretary Debabrata 'Debu' Das alleged that the veteran keeper makes excuses to skip domestic matches for the state.
An irate Saha wanted an unconditional apology from Das, which he didn't get and when the official was sent as Indian team's administrative manager to England, it broke the proverbial camel's back.
