The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is trying its best to make Wriddhiman Saha reconsider his decision of not representing Bengal any longer. But Saha remains firm on his stand.
Even after the 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batter had asked for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the state association earlier for feeling “insulted” by the latter’s “attitude” towards him, it was learnt that a senior CAB official had again got in touch with Saha on Wednesday in an attempt to make him change his mind.
But Saha again clearly conveyed the message that he was no longer keen to play for Bengal, sources close to the ’keeper-batter said. “At present, it does appear that Wriddhi has made up his mind of not turning up for Bengal ever again.
“The words that the CAB joint secretary had used while questioning his commitment towards Bengal were very much hurtful. And then, none from the association even bothered to get in touch with him once before finalising the Bengal squad for the Ranji Trophy quarter-final clash.
“Especially after such comments from the joint secretary, it’s quite fair for Wriddhi to have expected at least one courtesy call from the association,” someone close to Saha said.
“He has offers from a few other states. So once this domestic season gets over, he’ll proceed with the needful,” the confidant added.
Although there’s no confirmation yet, but Gujarat are learnt to have shown interest in Saha.
