Wriddhiman Saha looks set for a Bengal comeback after donning the Tripura colours for the last couple of seasons.
Following comments by a senior Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official, which had questioned the 39-year-old keeper-batter’s commitment to Bengal, an aggrieved and hurt Saha had decided to part ways with the state association and opted to play for Tripura in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
Last week, it emerged that Saha had spoken to the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) officials about not willing to continue playing for the state as he wanted youngsters to get the opportunity. Although TCA officials continue to claim that Saha hasn’t yet applied for the No-Objection Certificate, he came to Calcutta and met Sourav Ganguly, a former president of both the BCCI and the CAB, on Monday.
According to CAB insiders, the meeting with Sourav was fruitful for Saha and he is most likely to be back home from the coming domestic season itself.
There hasn’t been any official communication yet from the state association on Saha’s return, but the influence of Sourav over the CAB is known to one and all.
Saha may also participate in the Bengal Pro T20 League, which begins on June 11. He has been in talks with Shrachi Rarh Tigers.
