Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz would look to brush up and fine-tune certain aspects of their game when they clash at the Brabourne Stadium on Tuesday.

With both teams having made the playoffs, their contest carries no significance as such. But that said, the winning momentum matters and going into the knockout stage, the teams would obviously want to be in a good frame of mind.

For the Warriorz, who sealed their playoffs berth with a hard-earned three-wicket win over Gujarat Giants on Monday, a win over the Capitals in their final game of the league phase should add to their confidence. Importantly, they are a side that has been peaking gradually.

A strong middle order comprising players like Tahlia McGrath and Grace Harris and a disciplined bowling attack brighten the Warriorz’ prospects in the playoffs. Also, the consistency of spinner all-rounder Sophie Ecclestone is another major strength of the team.

On the other hand, the Capitals, a bit too reliant on openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma, need to strengthen their middle order which has lacked stability.

Mumbai eye top spot

Calcutta: Mumbai Indians had inflicted a heavy defeat on Royal Challengers Bangalore the last time these two teams met in the WPL.

RCB were then languising at the bottom of the table. They roared back with wins against UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants but those victories didn’t earn them a knockout berth.

Mumbai failed to retain their top spot after losing to the Warriorz first and then Delhi Capitals on Monday.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s team will have to turn up in less than 24 hours and so RCB will want to make use of this chance. For Mumbai, the challenge will be to end as No.1 in the standings. A victory will suffice if Delhi lose to Warriorz, else they will also have to be ahead on the net run-rate.
