Viv Richards has rated Glenn Maxwell’s unbeaten double century (201 n.o.) against Afghanistan in the World Cup as the “best white-ball knock ever” at an ICC talk show on Monday.
“I’d say Glenn Maxwell’s (innings) as the best. You couldn’t have even imagined someone winning a match from where they (the Aussies) were at that particular time. I was at a golf course… When I was told that Australia went on to win the match, I couldn’t believe it. It was a phenomenal knock,” said Richards.
Richards also backed India to go all the way in the tournament.
“The way India have been going at present, nine wins out of nine… I keep hearing sentences like ‘there is a bad match somewhere round the corner.’ That’s a lot of nonsense.. If you’re confident, you go all the way. Confidence creates more confidence,” the batting legend said.
