Shah Rukh Khan quietly came from behind and hugged Sourav Ganguly, who was seen speaking to Venkatesh Iyer following the Kolkata Knight Riders’ thumping seven-wicket win over Delhi Capitals at the Eden on Monday.
In that courtesy meeting, KKR principal owner Shah Rukh and the Capitals’ director of cricket Sourav, who is also a former Knight Riders captain, were learnt to have wished success to one another’s teams during their conversation that lasted for a few minutes.
Shah Rukh, obviously, was the happier man after such an emphatic win by his Knights.
Shah Rukh’s words after the defeat to Punjab Kings last Friday were an inspiration to the team, spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who starred with 3/16 on Monday, acknowledged. "We were very disappointed following the defeat in our last game. But the words from our bowling coach Bharat (Arun) Sir, Shah Rukh Sir and others were an encouragement. We were told to stick to our processes and everything would fall into place," Chakravarthy said.
About his spell, Chakravarthy stated: "This pitch had a bit of turn on offer. I tried to utilise that."
