Openers Amy Hunter and Gaby Lewis (36) gave Ireland a solid start. But Ecclestone and Glenn then weaved a spin web that had Ireland folded up for 105 in 18.2 overs.

Thereafter, Capsey’s pyrotechnics shut the door on Ireland as England strolled home with 5.4 overs to spare.

On Sunday in Cape Town, Sri Lanka registered a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh.

Brief scores: Ireland Women 105 in 18.2 ovs (S. Ecclestone 3/13). England Women 107/6 in 14.2 ovs (A. Capsey 51). England Women won by 4 wickets.

Upper hand for Windies

Bulawayo: Roston Chase and Joshua Da Silva gained the West Indies the upper hand on Day II of the second and final Test against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club.

At stumps on Monday, the Windies were 290/8 with former captain Jason Holder (3) and Gudakesh Motie (11) at the crease. The visitors lead by 175 at present.

Resuming on 133/4 and with a lead of only 18 at that stage, the Windies lost one of their overnight batters, Kyle Mayers (30), after the addition of 51 runs.

Thereafter, Chase and keeper-batsman Da Silva did well to forge a partnership of 85 for the sixth wicket that helped swell the Windies’ lead past 150.
