The loss to table-toppers Mumbai Indians has been a lone blemish for Delhi Capitals as barring that game, they have outplayed all their other opponents. Their knockout berth, though, isn’t finalised yet.

So the Capitals would certainly want to win their contest against Gujarat Giants at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday which would take them closer to the knockout stage.

Leaving aside Harleen Deol and Ashleigh Gardner to an extent, no other player in the Giants team has been able to come up with any kind of meaningful contribution. Captain Sneh Rana, too, has failed to fire with both ball and bat.

On the other hand, players like Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen have also put their hands up and delivered for the Capitals to bail the side out of trouble and pressure situations. In other words, the Delhi franchise didn’t have to rely on the bigger names in their ranks all the time.

Even India bowler Shikha Pandey has been consistent in the competition.
