Umran Khan stole hearts with his fiery spell in Mumbai on Wednesday. Sunrisers Hyderabad may have lost the match but the 22-year-old walked away with the Man of the Match award.
The J&K pacer said he always concentrates on bowling fast. “I always bowl fast but I’ve been trying to bowl better lines and lengths. The idea was to attack the stumps and it worked well for me,” he said.
Asked if he was aiming for the 155-kmph mark, Umran said: “Hopefully it happens, but the main goal is to bowl well and pick wickets for my team.”
In the end, it was Rashid Khan’s 31 not out off 11 balls that turned the tide in the Gujarat Titans’ favour.
Ironically, Rashid’s knock came against his former franchise. “The feeling is good... I was happy to do it against them, but I was just trying to play my game and have the belief in my batting which I’ve been working on for the last two years,” said Rashid.
He also praised Rahul Tewatia’s effort (40 not out) going into the last over with 22 runs required.
“When it was 22 left, I just told Tewatia that we have given 25 in the last over with our best bowler (Lockie) Ferguson,” Rashid said. “We just have to have that belief in ourselves. Just stay strong and we need to finish it or get as close as possible because it might help us with the run rate. But as long as we have that belief, anything is possible.”
