Virat Kohli is riding on a rough patch for quite sometime now. Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the plot during the business end of the Indian Premier League, which was followed by a Team India drubbing at the hands of Pakistan and New Zealand in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
But it's his birthday today, and people on social media have decided to look beyond the bumpy ride Kohli had to endure of late.
So much so that some of the tweets have called him a 'once in a generation' player, and showered the adulation he unfailingly needs as the Men in Blue are staring down the barrel in the UAE. If this really works as a shot in the arm for the outgoing white-ball skipper, Scotland and Namibia might just find it difficult to contain him on the field.
Sport sometimes can be cruel when the numbers are not in your favour. But then the kind of faith Anushka reposes in Virat can't be written off. "Your core is made of honesty and guts of steel . Courage that pales doubt into oblivion . I know no one who can pick themselves up from a dark place like you can," she wrote on Instagram.
King Kohli, as he is fondly called by fans, has more than enough to digest as far as Twitter wishes are concerned. The top trending cricketer was called a 'once in a generation player' by none other than Virender Sehwag.
And the rest of the tweets toed the same line, with most of them wishing him luck for the game versus Scotland tonight.
It's safe to say that the birthday wishes are coming thick and fast at the right time. India need to win by gaping margins versus both Scotland and Namibia and also pin hopes on Afghanistan beating New Zealand.
Now back to the birthday wishes. From Dinesh Karthik to Harbhajan Singh, no one missed out on sending him a birthday wish.
