Rajasthan Royals are off to a dream start in this IPL, beating both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians in style. But the key question is how long will they remain consistent? Consistency has been a bane for the Royals, especially in the last two seasons.

And Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will put their consistency to the test when the two sides lock horns in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Glenn Maxwell, one of RCB’s dashers, joined the squad last Friday after his wedding in Chennai. But RCB will not be able to include him for Tuesday’s game because of the embargo from Cricket Australia, which does not allow its contracted players to play before April 6.

The Royals’ batting has clicked so far, but RCB do have the wherewithal in terms of their bowling to keep the likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer quiet. Also, Akash Deep’s emergence has strengthened RCB’s bowling attack.

Agreed, the Bengal pacer can go for a few runs but he has genuine pace and can execute the back-of-a-length deliveries and yorkers well, which could be effective, especially against someone like Buttler.

The Royals’ batting line-up has done well in their two matches, having hit 25 sixes so far. But it remains to be seen how captain Samson, Devdutt Padikkal and Hetmyer respond if Buttler falls early.

The RCB batting line-up too will be tested against the likes of Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin. For Chahal, it will be a test against his former team with the Royals keen for his inputs on Virat Kohli’s game.

RCB do go into this game with a win over Kolkata Knight Riders, but with both captain Faf du Plessis and Kohli unable to contribute at the top, they struggled to chase down 120-odd. That’s something the Royals will certainly be keeping in mind.
