Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Raj Bawa smashed centuries as India recorded a thumping 326-run win over minnows Uganda to top Group B in the U-19 World Cup on Saturday.
The victory on Saturday was India’s biggest win in terms of runs in the tournament history. Put in to bat at the Brian Lara stadium, India colts first rode on Bawa’s 162 not out and opener Raghuvanshi’s 144 to post a mammoth 405/5, their second-highest total in the competition. They then bundled out Uganda for a paltry 79 in 19.4 overs.
India play their quarter-final game against Bangladesh on January 29.
Bawa’s unbeaten 162 is now the highest individual score by an Indian in the competition, as he surpassed Shikhar Dhawan’s 155 not out against Scotland in 2004.
