'Thank you for being my family': Once a Delhi teen, Rishabh Pant bids goodbye

Rishabh Pant has posted an emotional note on social media as his parting me­ssage to Delhi Capitals after being roped in by Luckn­ow Super Giants during the mega auction in Jeddah on Sunday.

“Goodbyes are never easy. The journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of amazing. From the thrills on the field to the moments off it, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. I came here as a teenager and we grew together over the last nine years.

“What made this journey all worthwhile is you, The fans. You’ve embraced me, cheered for me andstood by me in one of the toughest phases in my life,” Pant posted on X.

“As I move on, I carry your love and support in my heart. I’ll look forward to entertain you whenever I take the field. Thank you for being my family and making this journeyso special.”

Pant was acquired for 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in the IPL.

Delhi Capitals responded by posting: “Once in Dilli, always Dilli. We’ll miss you, but we’re sure you’ll be amazing wherever you go, Rishabh.”

Parth Jindal, co-owner of the franchise, also took to social media to express regret over Pant’s exit and expressed hope for a reunion soon.

Delhi Capitals decided to release Pant but attempted to reclaim him on the first day of the auction, but were unable to match LSG’s offer after the RTM option was activated.

“To Rishabh, you are and will always remain my younger brother — from the bottom of my heart I love you and I have tried everything to make sure you are happy and have treated you like my family,” Jindal posted on X.

The team is jointly owned by JSW Sports and GMR and as part of their agreement, the latter are in charge of running the show for two years.
