The World Cup is less than a month away, but the teams are struggling with player injuries.

Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah’s World Cup participation is in serious doubt because of a right shoulder injury. For New Zealand, seamer Tim Southee is uncertain after breaking a bone in his right thumb in the fourth ODI against England at Lord’s on Friday. The Australians are sweating over Travis Head’s fitness as the opener fractured his left hand during the fourth ODI against South Africa.

India have their own share of worries with batter Shreyas Iyer’s back spasms.

Naseem got injured during the Asia Cup Super 4s clash against India. While MRI scans done in Colombo and Dubai have revealed sufficient damage to his shoulder, the PCB wants an opinion from a specialist in the UK.

The timelines for Southee and Head’s recoveries are still unclear, but given the nature of their injures, it is highly unlikely that they will be able to play.
