The senior Bengal Women have entered the record books as they chased down a mammoth 390-run target to upstage Haryana by five wickets to enter the semi-finals of the Senior Women’s One-day Trophy.

In the quarter-final clash at the Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground C in Rajkot on Monday, Bengal rode the all-round performance of Tanushree Sarkar, who took 3/56 with the ball first and then hit 113 off 83 to help overhaul Haryana’s 389/5 with five balls to spare.

This was also the highest successful run chase in women’s List A cricket. The previous record was 309 by Northern Districts against Canterbury in 2019.

For Haryana, opener Shafali Verma hammered 197 off 115 balls. But her innings was overshadowed by Tanushree's efforts, which was complemented by keeper Priyanka Bala's unbeaten 88 off 81 balls.

"To have the mindset of chasing this massive target down is brilliant," team mentor Jhulan Goswami praised.

Brief scores: Haryana Women 389/5 in 50 ovs (Shafali Verma 197; Tanushree Sarkar 3/56). Bengal Women 390/5 in 49.1 ovs (Tanushree Sarkar 113, Priyanka Bala 88 n.o.). Bengal Women won by 5 wkts.
