Zimbabwe’s last game against Bangladesh was a case of so-near-yet-so-far as they lost the match by just three runs. Had they won on Sunday, Craig Ervine & Co. would have been in a much better position to keep their chances alive for progressing beyond the group stage.

However, they can make the semis if they beat the Netherlands, which will take them to five points.

This is a must-win game for Zimbabwe as their final group-stage game is against India. That’s one game where they need to play out of their skins if they are to finish with a win.

They have one eye on the sky though as there is a possibility of rain in Adelaide on Wednesday. That said, Zimbabwe are also not underestimating the Dutch, who have done a reasonable job with the ball in particular so far.

“I think the mood in the camp is very good,” captain Ervine asserted.

“We obviously need to play well tomorrow (Wednesday) and we also need to pick up two points to give ourselves that slim chance of making the semis. But again, we can’t look too far ahead in this tournament.

“Our focus will definitely be on trying to pick up a win against The Netherlands.”

Ervine still rues the loss to Bangladesh, but he’s laying greater emphasis on the positives from this World Cup.

“We’ve just got to come into these last two games with a lot of energy.

“It has been a long, taxing tour, but yeah, there have been quite a few positives for us and we’re focusing more on them,” he said.
