The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is set to feature the Decision Review System (DRS) in its entirety from next year.

If this does materialise, the TNPL will be the only T20 competition other than the Indian Premier League to be having the full DRS. Even the other popular T20 tournaments like the Big Bash League in Australia and the Caribbean Premier League do not have the DRS in full.

In Indian domestic cricket, full DRS was in effect only from the semi-final stage of the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season.

“In the last edition, we had only lbw and caught-behind decisions that could be reviewed. But from next year onwards, wides and no-balls can also be reviewed. So, the full DRS will be in use then,” Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) assistant secretary RN Baba told The Telegraph on Sunday. The TNCA organises the league.

The TNCA will also be coming up with a museum next year on the MA Chidambaram Stadium premises. “One part of the museum will comprise used bats, caps and gloves of Chennai Super Kings cricketers, including those of Mahendra Singh Dhoni obviously, alongside other souvenirs. The other part will be for the TNCA, comprising bats, gloves and caps of players former and present.

“It will be set up just above the pavilion. The museum tour will be taking place as of now on Saturdays and Sundays. A nominal amount will be charged for the tour, which is being set up mainly to encourage students to take up the sport.

“The structure is completed with just the interiors left. By next October, it should be ready,” Baba said.
