Off-spinner Tanush Kotian (3/15) and Sarfaraz Khan (36 not out) shone as Mumbai clinched the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, defeating Himachal Pradesh by three wickets in the final at the Eden on Saturday.

Electing to bowl, Mumbai, thanks to Kotian and pacer Mohit Avasthi (3/21), had Himachal reeling at 58 for 6 in the 10th over. It was largely due to a 60-run seventh-wicket stand between Akash Vasisht (25) and Ekant Sen (37) that Himachal finished at 143 for 8.

Mumbai, too, were in trouble after losing Shreyas Iyer (34) in the 14th over. But Sarfaraz took the game deep.

With six needed off the deciding over, Kotian (9 not out) hit Rishi Dhawan for a maximum in the third ball to secure victory for the Ajinkya Rahane-led Mumbai.

Brief scores: Himachal Pradesh 143/8 in 20 overs (E. Sen 37; T. Kotian 3/15). Mumbai 146/7 in 19.3 overs (S. Khan 36 n.o.). Mumbai won by 3 wickets.
