Bengal, after a hiccup against Madhya Pradesh the other day, quickly returned to winning ways in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. In Rajkot on Sunday, Bengal defeated Meghalaya by six wickets to register their fourth win in the competition.

With 16 points from five matches, Bengal are currently second in the standings in Group A.

Sayan Ghosh and Prayas Ray Barman took two wickets apiece as Bengal restricted Meghalaya to 127/6. Senior pacer Mohammed Shami (0/16), who survived an injury scare on Friday against Madhya Pradesh (MP), was economical.

in reply, opener Abishek Porel hit an unbeaten 61 off 31 balls as Bengal romped home with 49 balls remaining.

In another development, India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav will be playing Mumbai's next game, against Andhra on Tuesday after taking a break for a family function. He's expected to play the remainder of the tournament and also feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Brief scores: Meghalaya 127/6 in 20 ovs (Prayas Ray Barman 2/22, Mohammed Shami 0/16). Bengal 128/4 in 11.5 ovs (Abishek Porel 61 n.o.). Bengal won by 6 wickets.
