Suryakumar Yadav kept his No. 1 position among batters despite being out of competitive cricket for the past three months while ace spinner Rashid Khan is back among the top-10 bowlers, in the latest ICC T20I rankings released on Wednesday.
Rashid, back in the Afghan jersey after an injury lay-off, re-entered the elite list following his team’s 2-1 series victory over Ireland. He claimed eight wickets and jumped four places to ninth in the ICC men’s T20 bowler rankings.
Surya is way ahead of the batters’ pack with 861 points under his belt, with England’s Phil Salt a distant No. 2 with 802 points.
Surya, who hasn’t played since December having undergone a sports hernia surgery, is set to miss Mumbai Indians’ opening match in the IPL on Sunday after failing to clear a fitness test at the NCA. He is expected to undergo another test on Thursday, following which he could play the March 27 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
