Suryakumar Yadav has been named the International Cricket Council’s T20I Cricketer of the Year for 2022.

Surya scored 1164 runs in 31 T20I innings in 2022, with a strike rate of 187.43 and an average of 46.56, including two centuries and nine fifties. This included a sequence of three back-to-back half-centuries against Australia and South Africa.

Overall, he has 1578 runs from 43 T20I innings, since making his debut in March 2021, at a strike rate of 180.34 and average of 46.41, with three centuries and 13 half-centuries.

Surya became just the second batter to make more than 1000 runs in a calendar year and ended as the year’s highest run-getter in the format. He also became the No. 1T20I batter in the world when he went past Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan in early November.

Mohammed Siraj became the world’s No. 1 bowler in the men’s ODI rankings for the first time, replacing Trent Boult after India swept New Zealand 3-0 at home. Siraj took five wickets in two games.
