Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently reeling on a five-match losing streak and had last tasted success more than three weeks ago against RCB.

Their qualification to the playoffs hangs by a thread. They play Mumbai Indians on Tuesday at the Wankhede, which is not only the most familiar place for the five-time champions but also one where Sunrisers haven’t won a single match this season.

Chasing teams have won six of the last eight matches at the Wankhede, with both wins for the side batting first coming in day games. The toss is thus going to assume greater significance though Mumbai Indians are already out of the reckoning.

The Sunrisers’ woes have been mainly because of the lack of a quality spinner. Washington Sundar has been in and out of the side because of injuries and that has complicated problems. They depend heavily on their pace battery and with the pitches becoming slower in the second half of the tournament, the Sunrisers’ task has been difficult.

However, Sundar could open the attack again mainly because of his success against Rohit Sharma. Both Sundar and Shreyas Gopal have combined to dismiss Rohit four times in 37 balls.

The Mumbai Indians captain has struggled this season, failing to convert the starts into big scores. He is yet to score 30-plus in two consecutive innings in 2022 in T20s and hasn’t registered a 50-plus score either.

Captain Kane Williamson’s form is another concern for the Sunrisers. The New Zealander has just 208 runs from 12 games at an average of 18.92. In the absence of a consistent top-order, they have failed to put up decent totals.

Their middle-order crumbled in their last game against Kolkata Knight Riders, which they lost by 54 runs.

Mumbai Indians will take confidence from their five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings, whom they bundled out for 97 and probably look to dent Sunrisers’ chances.
