Virat Kohli has skipped the ongoing Test series against England citing "personal reasons". With the IPL set to begin next month, Kohli is likely to be back in action in the Royal Challengers Bangalore colours.
But when Sunil Gavaskar was asked about Kohli, on whether the modern-day great will be hungry for runs in the IPL post his long layoff, the 74-year-old came up with a tongue-in-cheek reply, wondering if the 35-year-old will at all be available to play in the glamorous T20 league.
"Kya woh khelenge... kuchh reason ke liye khel nahin rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ke IPL ke liye bhi na khele (Will he play... He is not playing because of some reason, perhaps he may not play in the IPL as well)," Gavaskar said at a Star Sports "Star Nahi Far" event here at the IIM campus on Monday.
Earlier this month, Kohli and his actor wife Anushka Sharma announced the birth of their second child.
Gavaskar also said that the Kolkata Knight Riders' success in the upcoming edition of the IPL will depend on how team mentor Gautam Gambhir and head coach Chandrakant Pandit gel as a combination.
