Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has finally revealed plans for his “new chapter of life”.
In a post on Instagram and Twitter on Thursday, Sourav stated that he aims to glorify the “true heroes, their coaches, and educators” and support them by being “their ambassador” through an educational app called Classplus.
Sourav said he had long desired to help coaches and educators who contribute to creating and nurturing talent. He also thanked his coaches for making him what he is today and admired their role in his life.
“For a while, I have been thinking about one group of people that has been helping our society selflessly and making India greater every day,” the former India captain tweeted.
“IPL gave us amazing players but what inspires me, even more, is the amount of sweat and blood the coaches of these players put in for their success. This is not just true for Cricket, but all other fields like Academics, Football, Music, etc as well. I am fortunate to get all the coaches who made me what I am today.
“For ages, we have been glorifying actors, players and successful CEOs for the remarkable work they have done. It is time we glorify the true heroes, their COACHES AND EDUCATORS.
“I want to do something for all the coaches, educators, and teachers across the world. Starting today, I will actively work to support all of them by being their ambassador,” he said.
Sourav’s cryptic tweet on Wednesday evening that he was planning to enter a new chapter of his life and will start something that will “probably help a lot of people” led to speculation that he had stepped down from his position as BCCI chief.
Secretary Jay Shah had to step in to dismiss such speculation as “factually incorrect”. Sourav too met waiting mediapersons at his residence late in the evening and revealed plans of launching an “educational app” while expressing “surprise” at all the talk about his resignation.
