Eagles, Sharks and Tigers emerged winners of the ABP Annual Cricket Matches at the Taltala ground on Sunday.
Eagles defeated Hawks by eight runs, while Sharks and Tigers won by eight and five wickets, respectively, against Whales and Lions. All the three matches were 10-overs-a-side affairs.
Snehasis Banerjee, opening the innings for Eagles, starred with a 21-ball 53 to help the team score 110/4 in 10 overs after they were asked to bat. In reply, Hawks could manage 102 for the loss of four wickets.
Snehasis shone with the ball too, picking up a wicket in the lone over he bowled and gave away only seven runs. Subhankar Das also did well for Eagles, conceding four runs off two overs with a wicket.
In the next match, Sharks, opting to bowl first, limited Whales to 38/6 with Rima Mukherjee (2/6) and Tanushree Chatterjee (2/8) striking twice each in their two-over spells. Sharks then took just 7.5 overs to overhaul Whales’ total. Debosmita Bhattacharya (18 not out) of Sharks was adjudged Player of the Match.
In the third game, Samrat Mondal starred for Tigers with 3/15 off his two overs as Lions, opting to bat after winning the toss, scored 81/6. Mainak Sengupta top-scored for Lions with 23. In reply, contributions from Rakesh (24), Abhishek Roy (20) and captain Swamantak Roy (15) helped Tigers chase down the target with three balls to spare.
