Bengal’s Ranji Trophy preparations suffered a setback as six players and a member of the senior team’s coaching staff have tested positive.
All the seven were present during an intra-squad warm-up game at the JU Salt Lake campus ground on Sunday. But reports of the RT-PCR tests they underwent were found to be positive. They will now isolate in accordance with protocols.
The Bengal cricketers were set to play a four-day warm-up game versus the Prithvi Shaw-led Mumbai at the CCFC from Tuesday. But due to the recent development and a sudden upsurge of Covid-19 cases in the city, it remains to be seen whether the warm-up game at all happens.
