While Jasprit Bumrah and Co. were busy taking India towards a 1-0 lead in the five-match series on Monday, Rohit Sharma got down to business at the practice facilities of the Perth Stadium.

The last time India played a pink-ball Test in Australia, it was at the Adelaide Oval and the series opener of their 2020-21 tour Down Under. Thatforgettable game would be in the minds of Indians as the then team was bundledout for 36 in the second inni-ngs despite a handy first-innings lead.

On this occasion, India will obviously be going into the day-night game in a far better frame of mind following their dominance over the Australians in the series opener.

The Indian contingent will travel to Canberra next for a two-day tour game, also a pink-ball day-night affair, beginning on Saturday. That should also serveas preparation for thesecond Test.

Rohit’s addition, however, should bolster India’s batting as the coming days will provide him with a chance to gain some rhythm going into the Adelaide Test from December 6.
